By MARIANNE TAYLOR

With Christmas party season in full swing, we asked Glasgow-based stylist and author Numba Pinkerton to give us her top three tips on choosing the right out t for your big night out.

BODY SHAPE

Not everyone looks great in gure-hugging party dresses. It’s up to you to understand your body shape and what styles work best for you. Triangle body shapes look great in A-line styles, hourglass figures in

more fitted styles and rectangle or round figures in shift style dresses. Wearing an outfit in the right cut will greatly enhance your appearance and confidence.
Dress: Topaz textured Fit and Flare dress, £110, Reiss.

THINK COMFORT

Most of us are tempted to opt for extravagant looking footwear even when they feel uncomfortable.

The truth is, no matter how expensive your shoes are they will never look flattering on you if you cannot walk in them. Striking a balance between comfort and style is best. Use your footwear to either enhance your outfit by opting for nude colours or tone down extravagant or patterned outfits by opting for more colourful or unique footwear.

Shoes: Natural cylindrical heel sandals, Tetal velvet, £68, Offce.

IF YOU KNOW BLACK DRAINS YOU, WHY WEAR IT?

Contrary to popular belief black doesn’t looks good on everyone, and neither is it the only slimming colour.

Navy blue is much more attering on most complex- ions. For evening wear there are a lot of alternative deeper shades that have the same slimming effect as black, such as navy, burgundy, aubergine or bottle green.
