Winter is here, and let’s face it, you’re going to be covered in more layers than a Russian doll until April, so you might as well look your best!
A good winter wardrobe will not only keep you insulated until Christmas but will see you through January, February and March too.
If you are looking to refresh your winter wardrobe with some new ideas, then you have stumbled upon this article at the perfect time!
Below, you will find a list of 5 winter essentials you need to stroll through winter easily and in style:
1. A STRUCTURED WINTER COAT
Coats are the first layer between the cold and yourself, and also the first thing people see, so you want a coat that is warm enough to protect you from the bitter cold but also stylish enough to make you look and feel your best!
The secret to achieving both is opting for a more structured coat in a ‘colour’ other than black! Doing this will make you look more stylish, smarter and more sophistciated regardless of what you are wearing under your coat- Colours such as Grey, Burgundy, Navy, Carmel or Deep Green are all great alternatives.
2. A BOLD COLOURED SWEATER
Sweaters are a way to show your personal style while still staying cozy. Whether you choose a printed sweater or a neutral one, they're always a pleasant surprise when you take your coat off. Remember, colour makes you feel so much brighter in the cold winter months!
If you are not a sweater type person, opt for a cardi instead- the feeling is the same.
‘Pointed-ish boots’ with a heel (no matter how small) are still necessary in the winter, and all your dinner dates, meetings and parties will agree! If you already have a black pair in your wardrobe, you might want to consider another colour for a change…Why not try burgundy or rust for a change? It will match more colours that you think and will look extremely stylish too.
4. A BLAZER
If you know me well, then you will know I am huge fun of the navy blazer for many reasons; one of which is its’ versatility. If you own a navy blazer already, why not add a bolder colour blazer or patterned number to your wardrobe this time? A bold textured blazer will look stylish with tailored trousers for work and equally as stylish with a pair of jeans at the weekend. Pair with a ribbed top or jumper for a cosy winter look.
5. A MIDI SKIRT
Skirt trends come and go, but while the midi may have started out as one such trend, it's stuck around long enough to see it become a wardrobe staple. Sure, it may be most commonly associated with summer, when floaty iterations make for the perfect accompaniment to camisoles and strappy sandals. But, it’s a piece that you can actually wear during winter in a weather-appropriate ways. If you are not a big fan of showing off your bare legs, wear knee length fitted boots or a longer skirt.
Throw on with a jumper (both slim fitting or oversized work well) then complete the look with Suede or leather boots, and voila- You will have compliments flowing, about how stylish you look- It’s a guarantee! For colder weather, throw on your structured winter coat for extra warmth.
I hope this provides some fresh ideas for your winter wardrobe!
