Pleated skirts are very classic pieces that can complement every wardrobe! If you were savvy enough to cling on to your pleated skirt, pat yourself on the back, because they are making a surprising resurgence in 2019. Being feminine by nature, they are perfectly suited to matching up with a wide range of tops to create stylish outfits.
Below, I have provided a refresher course on three ways to wear your pleated skirt in 2019 (The Style Me Flawless way! )
Here are three ways you can style a pleated skirt:
1. WEAR WITH A WHITE T-SHIRT
The white tee is an essential in most women's wardrobes. This versatile wardrobe piece is perfect for dressing down fancy skirts, and making them feel more fresh and modern. Here, a classic denim jacket is layered over a pretty, pleated skirt and white tee, for an easy everyday outfit that's no harder to style than a simple t-shirt and jeans, but looks so much more pulled together.
*Perfect for brunch or afternoon tea with the girls
2. WEAR WITH A CHUNKY KNIT
With its billowing silhouette, your first instinct might be to pair your pleated skirt with a more form fitting top, when in fact, an oversized knit makes the perfect accompaniment. Wear yours half tucked in at the front (if you want to showcase your waist) or tucked-out. Complete the look with ankle boots.
*Perfect for coffee catch up’s or visiting family and friends
3. WEAR WITH A BLOUSE
By nature, the pleated skirt—with its delicate folds and 1950s silhouette—is ultra classy. Stay true to form by pairing with a patterned blouse and some courts or loafers. For perfect matching, try choosing a colour from your skirt and wearing a patterned top containing that colour. The matching shades on top and bottom will to create an outfit that looks well pulled together.
*Perfect for creative work occasions
