Top 10 Pieces For Your Spring Wardrobe
As spring approaches, it’s a relief to finally ditch our thick woollen jumpers and knee length boots, to be replaced with lighter, uplifting pieces in our wardrobes. As always, it was such a pleasure to be featured in the Evening Times with this article.
One of the biggest challenges for most women is streamlining your wardrobe with fewer stylish pieces you can easily mix and match, which is what is referred to as a capsule wardrobe. The key to building a reliable, stylish capsule wardrobe is keeping an open, playful attitude and buying pieces that will work well with the rest of your wardrobe. Its all about being mindful of your preferences and lifestyle and loving what you buy!
With just a few key pieces to add to your existing spring wardrobe, you can create a variety of stylish outfits that are coordinated and extremely easy to put together.
Here is my spring 2018 edit:
Instead of going for the classic camel trench coat, why not mix it up with a navy one this time? Its just as versatile as camel or black and adds a touch of class to any colour scheme you choose to go for.
2. Pale Pink Top
Nothing says ‘Charming and Feminine’ more than the colour pink! A beautiful pale pink top adds charm to more basic separates and can equally be paired with jeans and trainers as it can with a skirt and heels. Throw it on with a statement necklace and you’re good to go! If you are not a fun of pink, a white or cream blouse of similar style is a great option.
3. Boyfriend Jeans
Boyfriend jeans offer a ‘cool’ alternative to the usual skinny jeans. A medium to dark stretchy blue pair is very flattering on most figures and goes with pretty much any shade. Dress them up with heels and a trench coat or dress down with simple loafers.
4. Slip On Shoes
If you have a very busy lifestyle and need comfortable stylish shoes that you can easily throw on for casual or some smarter occasions, look no further than slip on plimsolls. Slip-ons are usually worn without socks. However, they can also be worn with low-cut socks that end in the shoe. The line separating casual and formal shoes is not as strict as it used to be, so you have much more flexibility with slip on plimsolls.
5. Breton Tee
We all know how great a classic Breton top is; seamlessly transitioning from workday chic to rock concert grunge and weekend moseying. If you don’t have one already, opt for one with dark navy lines on white, which will give it a fresher and lighter feel. Longer sleeves are always more versatile.
6. Colourful Trousers
Who said a capsule wardrobe has to be boring? Coloured Chinos (or tailored trousers) offer exactly what they say on the tin- Colour to perfectly match our spring mood and spice up our spring wardrobes. High rise waists flatter the hips and waist and slim tailoring will go with both tight and slouchy tops, which can be worn tucked in or un-tucked.
7. A-line Skirt
A line skirts are a lot more versatile than most women think. They offer something that many other skirts don’t- A laidback, Classy feel. They can easily be dressed up with a blouse and heels or down your Bretton tee and flat sandals or plimsolls.
8. Colourful Scarf
Any stylish woman knows that the secret to great style is accessorising the right way. The right accessories can lift an outfit adding colour, style and sophistication. Choose a patterned, colourful scarf for more versatility.
A spring wardrobe would not be complete with a pair of sunglasses. Remember that when it comes to sunglasses, the ‘one size fits all’ rule does not apply. Experiment with various styles until you find something that flatters both your colouring and face shape.
10. Dark brown Sandals
Like navy and black, dark brown is another great neutral to incorporate in your spring wardrobe in form of shoes. Comfortable sandals in dark brown is a very versatile option for warmer days. You can wear them with your skirt, boy friend jeans or dress. A definite must have for your spring capsule wardrobe!
Here are some outfit examples you can create using the above pieces.
I hope this post gives you some ideas for your spring capsule wardrobe.
