WHY I LOVE MONOCHROME
In a complicated world, there’s something more reassuring than clean, simple monochrome colours in blacks, greys and whites especially when they are organised into logical stripes, grids, and figure-flattering cuts. This look is modern, cool, and assertive—but never in your face- when you wear it right!
THE SECRET TO WEARING MONOCHROME
How do you pull together a monochromatic look without appearing uncreative or boring? What is the secret to wearing monochrome? My verdict is to introduce just the right amount of colour to the monochrome outfit using a structured square bag. Introducing a block colour simply softens the look slightly and produces an easy-going, innovative, monochrome outfit that will look anything but boring! If your neckline begs for ornamentation, choose a statement piece in plain silver or gold. Shoes can be black, white, or a mix of the two.
I picked a high waisted a-line skirt from Zara (I Love it!) which is very flattering on a triangle/pear shaped body like mine. The texture of the skirt just gives the overall outfit a cool and stylish twist. I then added a cropped long sleeved top (also Zara!) in black and white (perfect for start of autumn) and paired the outfit with a chunky silver necklace (Autograph-M&S), black ankle strap heels (Ann Michelle) and a deep rose pink shoulder bag (Italian Leather Bag) to complete the feminine ‘Ladies Afternoon Tea’ look I was after. If you don’t have any colourful bags in your wardrobe, it might be a good time to start introducing some, after all, you don’t any more than two black bags!
